About the University

VSMU was awarded with the “Medal of Peoples Friendship” by the Presidium of the Soviet USSR for training Doctors from Asia, Africa, Middle East & Latin American countries.

VSMU is a highly reputed Government University in Republic of Belarus and is rated highly in the World-ranking systems. VSMU maintains a high level of education compatible with European Academic standards with 10:1 student-teacher ratio.

FACULTY

At present the University has 7 faculties with more than 7,000 students, 63 departments, staffed by 56 Doctors of Sciences and 227 Candidates of Sciences including 44 professors and 171 associate professors, Central Scientific Research Laboratory, Scientific Medical Information Department, Educational and Methodical Informational Center and a Library. There is problem-based teaching, integration in the studying of the theoretical and clinical disciplines at the University.

GOVERNMENT HOSPITALS

Clinical training from the 4th year of study in 20 Government hospitals with total capacity exceeding 10,700 beds. All the departments have computer tests, plaster casts and modern medical and diagnostic equipments. These State run hospitals offer an excellent exposure to students who take part in the whole range of diagnostic and surgical procedures during their clinical course in numerous specialities.

INTERNATIONAL STUDENTS & ACTIVITIES

First batch of foreign students got enrolled since 1981 and graduated in 1987. They successfully work in different Institutions and Public Health sectors of 110 countries of the world.

Vitebsk State Medical University has 5 comfortable students hostels with well organized services.

The University is the organizer of International academic conferences, which stimulate active participation of all the Scientists and Lecturers of the University. Some of the well known lecturers and scientists have been elected to the Foreign Scientific Academies.

VITEBSK STATE MEDICAL UNIVERSITY – UNITED NATIONS

The VSMU-UN Body is a non-profit organization which implements strategies of the UN and is powered by the direct support of the European and North American UN associated bodies. VSMU-UN Model has provided the students the opportunity to attend quality International College/University level programs that bring together the next generation of International Leaders.
